On Tuesday, 25 August, Liberec played host to the first ever meeting of the entire Organising Committee team of EYOWF 2011 in the Liberec Region. The members of the Committee are also preparing a rehearsal in the form of the Czech Youth Olympics 2010 (ODM) which will take place one year prior to the biggest sporting event in the history of the Czech Republic, EYOWF 2011.
In the beginning of August, the EYOWF 2011 Organising Committee achieved a significant success. After more than six months of collecting data, a list of all the medal winners in each discipline over the past nine European Youth Olympic Winter Festivals has been compiled.
On July 21st and 22nd, a delegation of European countries took part in a special series of lectures prepared by the organisers of the 10th European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) 2009 in Tampere. Not only did the members acquire information about the organisation of such a top event, but they also visited the venues and witnessed the background aspects of EYOF 2009.
A ninety-minute opening ceremony launched the 10th European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) 2009, which takes place between July 19th and 24th. Participants from 49 countries, including the Czech Republic, came to the Finnish town of Tampere. There were also nine members of the Organising Committee of EYOWF 2011 in the Liberec Region taking part in the Festival.
On Wednesday September 9th, the “vyCOOL se!” programme will be launched. It consists of around forty competitions and sport activities which will additionally accompany ODM 2010 and EYOWF 2011. More than twenty primary and secondary schools have already applied for the additional programme designed for students as well as their teachers.
A nine-member delegation consisting of members of the EYOWF 2011 Organising Committee and representatives of the Liberec Region leaves for Tampere, which hosts the EYOF 2009 – a summer version of the European Youth Olympic Festival. From 18th to 25th July they will get acquainted with the organisation and logistics of the event.
