From July 18th to 25th , Tampere hosts EYOF 2009, a summer version of the European Youth Olympic Festival. A delegation consisting of members of the EYOWF 2011 Organising Committee and representatives of the Liberec Region will be leaving for Tampere in order to get acquainted with the organisation and logistics of the event.

On Friday, June 19th, the Vesec venue in Liberec was witness to the first meeting of the EYOWF TEAM, which will take part in the organisation of the 10th EYOWF 2011 as well as additional events. Representatives of the Organising Committee prepared a relaxed session for the future volunteers, referees and sport fans with the aim of getting to know one other and initiating future cooperation.

The slogan “vyCOOL se!” will be appearing over the next two years throughout the Liberec Region as well as other places in the Czech Republic. It is the name of an additional programme for schools accompanying the EYOWF2011 preparations which should serve to motivate secondary school students to become involved in various activities.

The EYOWF 2011 delegation was present at the European Olympic Committees Seminar. The most important point of the visit to Dubrovnik, where the seminar took place from May 14th to 17th, was a meeting with Guido de Bondt, the Chairman of the EOC Youth Festivals Committee.

The EYOWF 2011 Organising Committee has recently launched volunteer recruitment for the 10th European Youth Olympic Winter Festival (EYOWF) 2011. Members of the EYOWF TEAM will take part in a number of different areas not only in terms of the organisation of the festival itself, but also in the preparations and events associated with the festival.

The Liberec Region has received the organisers’ flag of the 10th European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2011. The symbolic baton was handed over to Stanislav Eichler, President of the Liberec Region, during the closing ceremony in Wisla, the birthplace of the Ski Jumping legend Adam Malysz, and one of the five venues of the 2009 Festival, which has just finished at the weekend.
