Current stage of preparations, inspection of the sports venues and facilities, and sharing experience – this was the subject matter of the seminar intended for the Chefs de mission related to the 9th European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2009, which was held in the Polish winter resort Szczyrk. Delegation of the EYOWF 2011 Organising Committee consisting of Kateřina Nyčová, Martin Ditrich, and Daniel Merz attended this meeting on 7 - 8th November.

On the first day the delegations inspected the sports venues in the towns of Szczyrk - in which competitions in Alpine Skiing Disciplines, Snowboarding, and Ski Jumping will be held, Wisla (Cross-Country Skiing and Biathlon), and Cieszyn (Figure-Skating). The members of the seminars were also shown around the hotels that will accommodate athletes, trainers, and other EYOWF 2009 participants.

The second day the inspection of the remaining venues followed – the furthest venue in Tychy (Ice-Hockey) and the town of Bialsko– Biala (Curling). At the afternoon meeting the organisers presented their concept of the whole event and answered questions regarding the organisation, procedure, and background of this festival.
“Our stay included a business meeting with the representatives of the EYOWF 2009 and EYOWF 2011 organising committees. There we finalized all the details related not only to the presentation of the sports event itself but also to individual organising towns and the whole Liberec region during the EYOWF 2009," said the Executive Director of the Organising Committee, Kateřina Nyčová.

The symbolic relay will be handed over in Malysz’s home town
Szczyrk will be the main centre of the 2009 festival. The “headquarters” will be set up in the hotel Orle Gniazdo, where the Chefs de Mission and journalists will be staying, a press centre will be established, meetings of trainers and press conferences will be held, etc. Moreover, Szczyrk will host the opening ceremony situated under the newly built jump hills Skalite.
Wisla will welcome the participants of Cross-Country Skiing disciplines and of Biathlon. The whole festival will terminate on the main square of the town where the ski jumper Adam Malysz was born, and here Liberec will take over the symbolic relay.
In contrast, Tychy is the furthest place from Szczyrk. In the newly built winter hall the Ice-Hockey competitions will be organised. And Curling competitions will be held in Bialsko-Biala. What is interesting is that this tournament will be held in a school gymnasium where the organisers will make ice by using mobile equipment and special technologies. The last organising town is Cieszyn – the Polish part of a conurbation with Český Těšín. A new and gorgeous hall will provide perfect conditions for Figure-Skaters.
